Organisation Profile
Sachin Sarcoma Society is a patient support group that was formed in 2018 by a group of sarcoma survivors and caregivers. These individuals had all been misdiagnosed at other hospitals in Delhi before finding treatment with Dr. Sameer Rastogi at AIIMS Hospital in New Delhi. The challenges they faced, such as misdiagnosis, lack of awareness about the disease, and logistical problems, inspired them to come together and create a support group to help other patients facing sarcoma, desmoid tumors, and GIST.
The mission of Sachin Sarcoma Society is to spread awareness about rare tumors like sarcoma, desmoid tumor, and GIST, and to build companionship with affected families. Their vision is to remove the fear associated with these diseases. The aim of the support group is to provide emotional, financial, and logistical support to patients. The group offers counseling and understanding to patients who are struggling emotionally, and they provide financial support by covering the costs of scans and medicines for those who cannot afford them. Additionally, they arrange for accommodations such as nearby Dharamshalas, guest houses, or hotels for out-of-town patients.
